Tessa + Chase’s Boulder, CO Wedding- Denver Wedding Photographer
Brunch weddings are always so pretty and as a photographer they are so easy going sometimes it doesn’t even feel like your working! Tessa, Chase, and their family traveled over from Nebraska to have an absolutely beautiful wedding at the Flagstaff House in Boulder, CO. From the ceremony we got some amazing portraits at Chautauqua Park and Lost Gulch Lookout because I mean you can’t beat those mountain views! Tessa and Chase were so fun and down to earth it made it very easy to work with them. The love absolutely filled the room with all of their family there to celebrate! Here are some of the memories from the day that I hope you enjoy!
Megan + David’s Willow Ridge Manor Wedding- Denver Wedding Photographer
Megan and David’s wedding was one for the books! Held at the beautiful Willow Ridge Manor in Colorado, this wedding was absolutely perfect and with nearly everything being held outside, you couldn’t have asked for better weather. From the getting ready photos with all of the beautiful antique mirrors to some fun pictures with the red rocks, everything leading up to the ceremony was so laid back and easy going which is exactly what these two wanted! The ceremony out in the back couldn’t have gone any better and we had so much fun dancing for the reception! I’ve gotten to know Megan and David over the year and the experience with them has been so great! When I talk about my kind of couples these two fit that bill exactly. Congratulations to both of you! Enjoy the honeymoon and I hope you enjoy this blog of your big day!
Frequently Asked Questions- Denver Wedding Photographer
Through the years I’ve had so many amazing experiences with my couples and I truly enjoy helping them through their journey of planning one of the biggest days of their lives! Let’s be real, this is the only time you’re doing this typically and you have no idea what to expect. I’ve been through this process over 100 times and I’ve really seen it all! From the small mountain elopements to the huge 300 person church weddings, I am here to guide you through this! So of course you’re going to have questions and I wanted to put this out there of some of the more common ones that I get so you have it all in once place!
Engagement Sessions Through The Seasons- Denver Wedding Photographer
Engagement sessions not only get you some absolutely beautiful images to have forever, but it’s an amazing way to get to know your photographer and understand how you will all work together for wedding day! If you want to read up on some great tips for your engagement session definitely check out my blog post Engagement Session Tips. For this post I wanted to talk about having your session in different season and what that means for timing! Check out below to get an idea when the best time is to have your Colorado engagement session depending on what month you decide to have it! Another thing to keep in mind, unless you’re in the mountains expect the sun to go down behind the mountains about a half hour before the actual sunset!
Winter Session: Dec-Mar 3-5pm
During December through Mid March you can plan your engagement session taking place between 3-5pm. However, the time changes in the middle of March so that will make the start time one hour later!
Spring Session: Apr-May 5:30-8PM
The sunset time drastically changes throughout the course of these two months and so our shooting times change as well. You can plan on approximately 5:30-7:30 in April and 6:00-8:00 in May!
Summer Session: June-Aug 6-8PM
Summer engagements, just like most engagements take place two hours before sunset. This will hopefully mean that the shoot will be during the cooler part of the day!
Fall Session: Sep-Nov 3-7:30PM
The sunset time changes drastically during these three months. In September, you can plan on 5:30-7:30 until the third week and you can plan on 5:00-7:00 until Mid-October. After the first week of November, we’d be looking at 3:00-5:00PM for your engagement session!
Lydia + Luke Manor House Wedding- Denver Wedding Photographer
What a perfect day for Lydia and Luke’s wedding this past weekend at the Manor House! With March weddings you never know what to expect weather wise and it turned out absolutely beautiful! Not only was the weather amazing, but the whole day itself was so much fun and a lot of that had to do with the type of people Lydia and Luke are. These two were so laid back and fun and it 100% rubbed off on the rest of the day. The Manor House is such a great venue with the amazing mountain backdrop and the signature white columns that there isn’t a bad place to take a photo there! Here is a sneak peek so you all can see what the day looked like! Enjoy!
Your Final Photos
Some of my favorite pictures from my weddings are the final photos we do at the end of the night before I wrap up! These photos let me get creative with flash and will get you something very different from everything else we have gotten throughout the day. Another great reason for these is that it gives you a chance to have a little bit of time with your new husband or wife away from the hustle and bustle of the wedding night. It gives you two time to take a breather and just enjoy each others company! Plus it makes for some really cool photos! Here are a few examples below:
Emily + Ben
SO cool that I’ve taken pictures of these two all over the country these past couple years! After this latest session at Lookout Mountain in Colorado, I just had to share my journey with Emily and Ben!
So I just had my third photo session with Emily and Ben… and now we’ve officially taken photos together in our third different state!! From Texas to Missouri to Colorado, I can’t get over the fact that it feels like we’ve been everywhere together! Back in the 2019, these two chose me to capture their big day and I never would have guessed two years later we’d be doing Ben’s headshots in a completely different city!
The first time we met, I was living in St. Louis and they were in Houston.. so of course I flew out to Houston to capture their engagement session. It was about 99 degrees out, but it turned out amazing! Fast forward a few months and these two had such a fun wedding in STL, disney theme included! Some of my favorite candid shots came from Ben and Emily’s wedding and I remember her dress being straight out of storybook. These two have so much fun and laughter together it can be infectious!
Two years later, I’m out here in Denver and was thrilled to find out these two had come out to Colorado as well! So of course I said yes when Ben asked if I could do some headshots for him… plus a few of them together for old times sake :) Easily my favorite part of this job is getting to know my couples and it’s so cool seeing some of them grow over the years. I’m so blessed and honored that I could see Emily and Ben again to capture them one more time… in a third state no less!!
Cassie + Thomas Boulder Engagement
Such a fun engagement shoot out in Boulder on Friday! We got a great mix of epic mountains and fun, little moments. Hope you enjoy Cassie and Thomas’ Boulder engagement session!
From the moment I met them out for beers at Seedstock Brewery, I knew Cassie and Thomas were going to be a lot of fun to work with! They were just so easy going and clearly loved being around each other, which is what I always look for in my couples. They have such a great story meeting in Minneapolis and eventually finding each other again Denver. Which is fantastic because, based on the time I’ve spent with them, they clearly belong together!
Fast forward to their engagement session this past Friday and they absolutely did not disappoint! Of course, we created some very epic and beautiful mountain photos, but my favorite parts were all the fun, little moments we were able to capture. Don’t get me wrong, ever since I moved out to Colorado these mountain photos are a dream! But I’ll always adore the small, fun moments more than anything else. I can’t wait to capture more of Cassie and Thomas’ moments together when they get married in September! In the meantime, I hope you enjoy these photos from their engagement session!
After Chautauqua Park we made it up to the Lost Gulch Overlook… and wow what a view! I loved that Cassie and Thomas were totally up for navigating these giant boulders in their dress clothes. Honestly, Cassie did better in her heels than I did in my trail runners…
Sarah + Adam Mountain Session
Moving to Denver was one the best decisions I’ve made in a long time! A big part of the reason is because of all the great friends out here! Adam and Sarah have been with me from the beginning, so its not surprising they are the subject of my very first blog post!
Wow taking these photos of Sarah and Adam brings back some big nostalgia vibes! Years ago, in St. Louis, these two were my first ever portrait shoot and now here we are again. Although this time they were willing to get back into their wedding attire and relive a little bit of their own nostalgia!
Needless to say the pictures turned out so gorgeous!!! Sarah looked just as beautiful in her wedding dress as she did the first time she wore it! And Adam looked great in his suit.. they complimented each other perfectly. It was just as if I was back at their wedding two years ago in STL, expect for the insane mountain views!
When some of us decided to take a trip out to the mountains near Telluride, we figured why not get some epic Colorado photos while we’re at it. Sarah and Adam have been good friends of mine for a long time and have been two of my biggest supporters on this photography journey of mine, so I'm very grateful for them and just wanted to say thank you! Thank you for always rooting for me, for your unwavering support, and, of course, for letting me use you as my models from St. Louis to Telluride! Can’t wait to take your 50th anniversary photos years down the road :)
